Title of Entry: Roberts Proton Therapy Center - 10th Anniversary Celebration

About this Entry: In celebration of the Roberts family and their gift that established the Roberts Proton Therapy Center at Penn Medicine, the most advanced proton therapy center in the world, we prepared a 10th Anniversary Stewardship book that shares vivid imagery and scientific information on the world-wide impact of the Center through updates on leading-edge research, thoughtful tributes from Penn Medicine leadership, and heartfelt reflections from patients whose lives have been changed by proton therapy and the Roberts family’s generosity.

Through this update on research and patient care, we highlighted the impact that philanthropy can have on the lives of countless patients and their families. The previous 5-year report focused entirely on patient stories. With this 10-year anniversary update, we were able to include information on new technologies and research space at the Center as well as imessages from our grateful patients.

We were also able to spotlight the late Suzanne Roberts and the Roberts Proton Therapy Center alumni group which was established to promote patient education about proton therapy - a tribute to the “celebration of life” that this group represents.

For decades, the Roberts family has been instrumental in providing exceptional support to the Abramson Cancer Center, the University of Pennsylvania, and the Philadelphia region. Their generosity has helped advance Penn Medicine’s mission and commitment to research, medical education, and patient care. Their personal involvement through financial support and campus activities has strengthened the morale of our patients, and our position as a world-leader in the fight against cancer.
